Insight Recovery Therapists - Megan Oviatt

Megan Oviatt, Registered Psychologist, B. Ed, MC (She/Her)
Hi, I’m Megan, a Registered Psychologist. I work with people who are navigating complex situations and feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. My approach is thoughtful, practical, and focused on helping you understand what’s happening and make meaningful changes. Therapy doesn’t require you to have the right words or a clear plan. We’ll figure that out together.
In addition to our joint Insight Psychological and The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre location within Evolve Strength Royal Oak, Megan sees clients at our Crowfoot location in the Crowfoot Centre building. The address is 600 Crowfoot Crescent NW, #340 Calgary, AB T3G 0B4.
If you are struggling to take the first step in booking an appointment or are curious about whether I am the right fit for you, please give us a call at (403) 252-1716 to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.

More About Megan Oviatt
I come into this work with a Master of Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. I have a deep passion for understanding the human mind and why people do what they do. I have a special interest in working with men and young people (ages 10+).
Throughout my career, I have gained significant experience in crisis intervention, providing vital support to individuals navigating challenging times. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where people can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic and client-centred principles. That means I believe that counselling is about you and your unique experiences and needs. My focus lies in helping people unearth their authenticity and courage, enabling them to craft lives filled with empowerment and peace. I strive to create a safe and empathetic space where you can explore your innermost thoughts and feelings and work toward positive change.
I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a powerful approach that encourages psychological flexibility and resilience. Additionally, my work includes Narrative Therapy, a method that emphasizes the importance of personal narratives in shaping our lives. I am also a Level 1 Gottman Therapist, equipped with the skills to support couples in building strong, healthy relationships.
A COUPLE QUESTIONS:
What quick advice do you have for people who are really struggling?
Life is supposed to be hard and struggling does not mean you are failing! If you can- step back, take a moment to look around, and then do one small thing to get you closer to where you want to be.
What was a defining moment in your life?
Moving away from my family to start a life in Calgary 15+ years ago felt impossible, however, it forced me to discover who I was and gave me the space to create a beautiful life for myself.
